At Gap Bridge Supports, I provide both general support services and hard/complex support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing participants, as well as clients with diverse needs.
My work includes:
Daily living support: shopping, routines, travel, bills, technology setup, community activities, mentoring, and building independence.
Advocacy and system navigation: Centrelink, NDIS, Aged Care, housing and homelessness, medical and mental health, drug and alcohol, insurance, superannuation, WorkCover, visas, justice system and VCAT/court support, ID applications.
Case management / Step-by-step support: planning, connecting with the right services, reviewing progress, flexible and holistic support, and speaking up with clients when new challenges arise.
Sight translation: unpacking and explaining complex letters, information, forms, or policies in clear Auslan so clients fully understand.
My role is more than just showing up — it’s about bridging the gaps in access, communication, and information. Where needed, I work alongside Auslan interpreters in detailed or high-stakes appointments so clients receive both accurate language access and support/advocacy.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR SUPPORT COORDINATORS
I am not a Support Coordinator — my role is different. I support clients directly with daily life, goal planning, and practical steps.
For example: working towards getting a driver’s licence, learning technology, or building routines. Where needed, I also link with Support Coordinators and other professionals to make sure everyone is on the same page.
